Went for a morning walk through the downtown, and waited for the Teatro National to open at 9AM. Had a coffee while waiting fir the tour to begin.

Then off to roam the market and sample the street foods. Seafood soup, homemade empanadas, tortillas and ice cream made the original way from 1901.

After the market, we walked around for a couple of hours to work off the meals, then stopped at another craft beer spot, before heading back to the hotel to meet with the tour group.

Got up early, had a wick breakfast at the hostel. Gallo Pinto (rice and beans) with egg and cheese. The grapefruit papaya juice was amazing.

Then off for a city walking tour.

Then back to our favourite neighborhood to another craft brewery for some cervezas.

Then back to the room to rest before heading out to dinner.

Walked around the Barrio Escalante neighborhood, which is filled with great little restaurants and craft breweries.
Sampled the beers at Craft Beer Factory

Had some patacones (fried plantains) sooo good

Then walked around the neighborhood for a bit before having a tortilla platter and guaparinia for supper

Then made it an early night to sleep after the long travel.
Arrived in San Jose and checked into our hostel. Clean and comfortable spot within walking distance to downtown and other neighborhoods.

The approximate route we will take through Costa Rica. San Jose – Quepos – Monteverde – La Fortuna – Sarapiqui Rainforest – Tortuguero – Puerto Viejo – and back to San Jose. Then on to Mexico City.
